Whether it's food, clothing or carpeting, going green is in fashion! For instance, there are clothing lines made of organic cotton-thereby supporting the organic agricultural practices that grew the cotton. There are even eco-friendly flooring and carpeting products, such as offered at Empire Today, which used to be known as Empire Carpet. Bamboo and other materials from sustainable crops make excellent raw materials for all kinds of applications such as, indeed, flooring and rugs. Then there's, of course, organic food. More and more mainstream grocery stores are giving shelf space to organic products. These stores often produce their own organic line of products, too, such as frozen and canned vegetables, dairy products, and breads, among other things. Many restaurants feature organic ingredients, even if some of these establishments are not health food restaurants per se. They just know that many customers care and appreciate the quality of such ingredients. Offering organic or eco-friendly elements often serves as a distinction for a business, setting it apart from what is considered the usual. Such a distinction has valuable commercial appeal. So the fashion of going green is practical, profitable, and makes good sense for our future. That's a fashion trend that is anything but superficial! Strong fashion sense, in this regard, is of overall benefit.

Charming Shoppes Inc, the parent company of boutiques like Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant and Catherines, saw its fiscal first-quarter earnings beat expectations on lower operating expenses and margin growth that helped to offset lower traffic. The company said that they didn't see the typical sales and traffic builds leading up to the Easter holiday, so they will have to be more aggressive with their marketing efforts going forward.
This should mean some great online and in-store deals at Fashion Bug are coming soon. The stores have been on-trend with their spring assortments of core and fashion women's plus-size apparel this season. However, the company is having to contend with rising cotton prices which could put a damper on growth. While sales at their brick and mortar stores showed slight declines, online sales rose 16% on average.
